Trick or Treat for Homeless Pets Campaign
Thank you to the wonderful students who are participating in the campaign to raise money for animal shelters in Los Angeles County. Our students will be asking for donations from friends, family members and neighbors to donate on behalf of our furry friends. (Students: check with your parents first before asking for donations or trick or treating for the cause. Follow their safety guidelines).
Did you know that approximately 5 to 7 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year, and approximately 3 million to 4 million are euthanized (60 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats) simply because there is no one to adopt them?
Our efforts to raise money for local animal shelters will help pay for food, medical care and other necessities for homeless pets in our city.
10 cents provides a cat or dog with food for one day.
$2 provides flea treatment for a cat or dog for a month.
$19 provides special formula to nourish an orphaned kitten or puppy.
$75 gives a shelter animal a full veterinary exam (including microchip).
$200 covers the cost of spaying or neutering a cat or dog preventing countless unwanted animals from being born.

Supporting American Veterans and Homeless Pets.
Students in Ms. Usui and Ms. Olinger's advisory classes are happy to participate in the Pets for Vets campaign this year. Our school wide campaign has raised over $200 for the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter, and we will be delivering the donation, as well as letters of support to American Veterans on Friday, November 11th, in honor of the Veteran's Day holiday.
