7.1 Students analyze the causes and effects of the vast expansion and ultimate disintegration of the Roman Empire.
-Study the early strengths and lasting contributions of Rome (e.g., significance of Roman citizenship; rights under Roman law; Roman art, architecture, engineering, and philosophy; preservation and transmission of Christianity) and its ultimate internal weaknesses (e.g., rise of autonomous military powers within the empire, undermining of citizenship by the growth of corruption and slavery, lack of education, and distribution of news).
Aqueduct: Roman engineering accomplishments allowed water to flow throughout the empire.
Examples of Roman Influences in Modern Life:
Rome to Home: Students will create a brief presentation (4-5 minutes) which explains how contributions from the Roman Empire are still used in our community today.
- Students will design a presentation using an online presentation tool that includes at least 3 contributions and where they are used today.
- Podcast will include a minimum of three pictures to match the contributions described in the presentation.
- Presentations will be shared to the class, and selected work will be posted on the classroom website.
Students MUST have signed Acceptable Use Policy form in order to use online tools needed to do the assignment.
